Rhythm is building sunlight for the indoors. We make high-output lighting devices designed to help people feel better, stay energized, and bring a sense of natural light into homes, offices, studios, and other indoor spaces. What started as a small design and engineering project has grown into a company building and shipping physical products from our San Francisco workshop.

Position Summary

We’re looking for a Technician to help assemble Rhythm units in our San Francisco workshop. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, involving mechanical assembly, light electrical assembly, quality checks, packaging, and general workshop support. You do not need to have years of manufacturing experience, but you should be comfortable working with your hands, following detailed instructions, and caring about the quality of the final product. This role will ask you to stay focused, organized, and consistent across repeated assembly tasks, while also adapting as our product and workflows improve. As we continue to grow, there will be opportunities to take on more responsibility and grow with us.

Responsibilities

• Assemble Rhythm units according to provided instructions, checklists, and quality standards.

• Use basic hand tools and workshop equipment safely and carefully.

• Support mechanical assembly, wiring, fastening, labeling, and final product preparation.

• Inspect parts and assemblies for defects, fit, finish, and consistency.

• Test completed units according to provided procedures.

• Package finished units for shipment.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace throughout the shift.

• Report inventory levels, part shortages, quality issues, and process improvements.

• Organize incoming parts, hardware, packaging materials, and deliveries.

• Communicate effectively with team members to keep production running smoothly.

• Provide and respond to feedback in a constructive way.

 

Skills

• Detail-oriented with strong attention to quality, consistency, and thorough completion of checklists.

• Comfortable working with your hands and doing careful physical assembly.

• Experience with tools, hardware, electronics, fabrication, product assembly, or workshop environments preferred.

• Strong communication skills with team members.

• Timeliness and time management: able to arrive on time, avoid scheduling conflicts, and stay focused during shifts.

• Ability to work carefully and consistently across repetitive tasks.

• Problem-solving skills to notice when something seems off and communicate it clearly.

• Adaptability to changing priorities, new assembly processes, and growing responsibilities.

• Respect for safety, organization, and the shared workshop environment.

 

Expectations

•  Availability for part-time or full-time shifts in our San Francisco workshop.

• Ability to work on your feet for much of the shift, with some lifting, carrying, bending, and hands-on physical work.

• A careful, patient, and quality-focused approach to assembly.

• Learn and follow Rhythm’s systems and workflows, which may evolve as we improve the product and production process.

• Ability to commit to scheduled shifts in advance.

• Receptive to feedback with a growth-oriented mindset.

• Ability to work well with others or independently, depending on production needs.

• A desire to take pride in building a product that customers will use every day.

 

Compensation

Starting at $30 per hour.

 

Hiring Process

Our hiring process typically takes a few weeks. Here’s what to expect:

• Selected candidates will be invited for an in-person interview at our San Francisco workshop.

• Final candidates may be asked to complete a paid trial shift.

• We’ll follow up within 2–3 days after the trial shift.
