Coming this Fall!

SFMade Storefront: Your window into local manufacturing

Made Here.
Retail. Stories. Experiences.

The SFMade Storefront is our flagship initiative: a retail, story, and exhibit space open to the street, giving the public a direct view into the products, craft, and people behind Bay Area manufacturing.

Made possible by a landmark grant from JPMorgan, we're opening a storefront this fall, serving as the public face of our collective Bay Area manufacturing community. Step inside for retail, the story of why we make here, and how, and experiences  including a maker-in-residence and live workshops  that turn browsing into watching real work happen, and let local manufacturers connect directly with customers.

For our manufacturers, the SFMade Storefront means:

  • Retail exposure without the overhead of running their own storefront

  • A downtown platform to tell their story to a broader audience

  • Access to new customers, media, and potential wholesale partners

  • Community and connection with fellow Bay Area makers

For the neighborhood and beyond, the SFMade Storefront brings:

  • A reason for workers, tourists, and locals to shop, browse, and linger

  • A genuine, curated local alternative to big national retail chains

  • Foot traffic that supports downtown's broader economic revitalization

  • A view into the craft and people behind San Francisco's products

The Learning Lab.
Test. Learn. Grow.

If the Storefront is where Bay Area manufacturing comes to life, the Learning Lab is how that impact scales. It's the education platform behind the Storefront, built to turn one flagship location into a repeatable model, extending our reach and deepening our impact for Bay Area manufacturers well beyond a single space.

Our inaugural cohort begins onboarding in August 2026, kicking off a six-week, cohort-based program that pairs hands-on retail testing with the strategy and operations skills manufacturers need to grow. As the Storefront opens this fall, participants sell real products in a real retail environment, gather live customer and sales data, and use it to sharpen their pricing, production, and growth plans in real time.

How it works?

Learn From People Who've Been There

Throughout the program, participants hear directly from local retail leaders, buyers, distributors, and fellow manufacturers who share the hard-won lessons and blind spots from their own growth  so participants can learn from them before hitting the same walls.

Why We're Building It

The Storefront gives manufacturers visibility and a place to sell. The Learning Lab is how we scale that opportunity: building the skills and strategy behind sustainable growth so the model can extend to more manufacturers, more cohorts, and eventually more locations, without depending on physical shelf space alone. Together, they create a pathway for local manufacturers to gain visibility, test ideas, build customer relationships, and grow sustainably  and give the public a new way to discover and support products made locally.
