On May 21, 2025, SFMade proudly recognized Mafia Bags as our Manufacturer of the Year 2025 during our Here/Now annual event.

This award honors companies that exemplify excellence not only in what they make, but in how they make it, and Mafia Bags stands out as a true leader.

Mafia Bags has built its identity around thoughtful design and upcycling, transforming discarded sails into durable, beautiful, high-quality, one-of-a-kind bags. Their work keeps materials out of landfills while elevating them into products with purpose. Beyond sustainability, they’ve cultivated a workplace rooted in care, creativity, and craftsmanship.

At the award ceremony, co-founder Paz Mafia shared a reflection:

“Twelve years ago, we came to San Francisco from Argentina with a dream: to build a local manufacturing business rooted in purpose. Thanks to our incredible community and partners, we’ve transformed thousands of used sails into something meaningful and built a circular ecosystem of creativity and sustainability along the way.”
